I'm not a sociopath so I care.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Wednesday 10/1/14 - 5:09:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
Hell, yeah, I care. Too much, but for the right reasons, I think. I don't think I fall for the type of popularity that comes from compromising yourself, like popularity is the end goal you focus on so much you forget the process and yourself. But on some level, I do think others' opinions represent a legitimate form of approval, like when you care about others enough to treat them w/ kindness and empathy, and they therefore develop a positive opinion of you.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Wednesday 10/1/14 - 7:03:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
I probably have some sociopathic tendencies, so I don't really care.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Wednesday 10/1/14 - 7:15:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
Don't bother. I'm not going to like you.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Wednesday 10/1/14 - 7:38:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
i pay it no mind. some people will like you, others won't, that's the way of life.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/2/14 - 9:32:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
I could care less

Could not have said that better myself.

Depends on which other people.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 10/6/14 - 5:45:20 AM EST (GMT-5)
I've always cared.

Not in that I need to be popular, but moreso that I have a deep seated fear that people find me obnoxious or incompetent.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 10/6/14 - 6:51:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
I really don't care what people think of me, just be yourself you don't have to pretend who you are is just you.

This.

What do you mean "pretend" I don't care

To expand, I fall in line with people's conventions just enough that they don't question/complain about/insult me too much. I don't care what people think of me, as long as they don't bother me with their opinions.

I love how all the young ones claim they don't care when it's human nature to care about what other people think.

I don't care to the extent that I will go out of my way to please people, but I do prefer other people to like me or at least not hate me.

There are also aspects in the mish-mash of things referred to as human nature which don't give much weight to what people think, e.g. a claimed tendency for violence (whether caveman A wants caveman B to smash his head with a rock and take his food probably doesn't factor into it much).

I don't care what everyone thinks all of the time, but I don't not care about what anyone thinks any of the time... Context is important.

I'm far more interested in seeing people think at all, than worried about what feelings they have toward me.

Its easy to be popular, anyone who really wants that and fails at it, especially in an internet forum, is really clueless. What isn't easy is to get people to think *instead* of feeling. Mostly I just wonder why people feel the way they do, what thoughts they've had about their opinions.

FIFY
You've said repeatedly you don't GAF about people here. It shows in the way you treat everyone here.

What pretentious, self-aggrandizing drivel. You want people to cave in to *your* thinking, and anything less than that is inherently *not* thinking. You don't have a f'ing clue about people's thinking b/c you have no respect for people at all.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 10/10/14 - 5:13:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
i genuinely deeply care what people think about me and every time i encounter someone who i think doesn't like me, it wounds me slightly

It probably happens often enough that I'd think you'd get used to it...

I have in fact never said that.

What the hell is wrong with you?

I find challenging what people believe often gets them to reveal why they are believing what they believe. If you want to mistake that for trying them to get them to believe what I believe, I'm OK with that. But I do wish you'd stop with the dramatic extremism.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 10/10/14 - 5:49:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
You don't challenge sh*t here. You attack it, belittle it, disrespect it, smirk at it, and try to impose your belief onto it. Always have.
7 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 10/10/14 - 5:54:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
That's an opinion. One you've given after several specific misrepresentations of other things I've written. I'm thinking its possible that it may be based on something less than a factual representation of my actions, and more on you emotional response to someone who has challenged your beliefs.

Unlike my opinion, yours assumes better knowledge of someone else's mind than that person has himself or herself.
