That sounds ridiculous. I looked up what it is. If everyone's listening to the same thing anyway, why make them listen with ear buds or headphones?

It works better for people who don't like the volume (excessively loud) at which music is normally played in dance places. Everyone can control to their own comfort level.

This is more inclusive for those with auditory sensitivity.

It's also a good way to throw an outdoor dance event- - the organizer doesn't have to worry about noise ordinance violations, disturbing those living nearby, or setting up speaker systems that could get damaged should it rain.
