Which makes time seem longer?: The units of time (years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds) or the number of units?
i.e.: I know someone that is counting down to Christmas. When it was 9 months away, that seemed long to me. But when I think of it as 273 days, somehow, that doesn`t seem quite as long. That`s why when I`m really excited about an upcoming event (such as my trip to Europe), I count down days.
Confusing question. What's the difference between units and # of units? So in your question, I will assume that the # OF UNITS = MONTHS and the UNITS = DAYS.

Oh, I know the length of time is still the same. Somehow breaking it up into smaller units makes it seem shorter to me. It's just a little over four months to my trip now. That seems longer than the 128 days that it is.
Hm. Reminds me of something... Yes, that's it.
Doctor: "I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do about your cancer. It's highly metastasized, I estimate you have about six months to live.
Patient: "Isn't there anything I can do?"
Doctor: "You could move to Silicon Valley and marry a software engineer."
Patient: "How would that help me live longer?"
Doctor: "Believe me, they would be the longest six months of your life."

I tried to word it the best I could. That was why I put the "story". Maybe I should have simply asked "What seems longer (even though they're really the same): One year or 365 days?" I know for some, it doesn't make a difference. I know people that think it seems longer to say 365 days because the number is so much larger than one. Then there are those like me who see one year as an eternity but for some reason, thinking of the year in terms of days doesn't seem so long. I think of that song from Rent, "Seasons of Love." And they sing of the 525,600 minutes in a year. And of course, I have to test it and make sure that figure is accurate and when I saw it was, I was like....that's all there is in a year? And there are only 31,536,000 seconds.
