Yes, and so did my step-mom, and I used it for my period a couple of times.

Why's it in quotations - is there something I'm missing here?
I definitely use hot water bottles. Toss a couple in the bottom of the bed while I'm brushing my teeth and my toes are toasty warm all night.

Probably - I know my mother uses one when it's cold, and I do too occasionally.
I get the impression JealousBlues wasn't that familiar with them?

I know what a hotwater bottle is, but I don't know what a "hotwater bottle" is or how it relates to grandmothers.

I think it's just in quotes because the original asker wasn't familiar with hot water bottles, and the reference to grandmothers is because they thought hot water bottles are something old-fashioned.

Oh. When I say hot water bottle I don't mean a fancy purpose-specific one. I just boil water and put it in a bottle.
Done.
(sometimes I put the bottle in a pillow case or t-shirt so it doesn't burn my toes in bed)

I have an aromatherapy teddy bear that I can heat up in the microwave and make all warm and toasty.
