Do you think that doctors should be paid when their patients stay healthy, rather than when they are sick?

What a horrible theory. Under this system, plastic surgeons and pediatricians would be seen as more valuable than oncologists.

Maybe if doctors kept their patients healthy, there wouldn't be a NEED for oncologists. There is a reason people have cancer.

Abscence of illness is not proof of doctors competence. I avoid going to the doctor at all costs but I am rarely sick. Historically, western medicine is suckiest at maintaining wellness but is best at critical care.

they should get paid whenever you get better

Look, when people go to the doctor they are usually sick. Doctors try to treat them. Sometimes their treatment works, sometimes not. I guarantee that if someone you loved got pancreatic or small cell lung cancer you'd be thinking a *whole* lot differently. Getting paid when you get better is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. What crap.

maybe with some modifications. like for every person they fail to treat correctly under say, two hours, they get nothing.

That probably wouldn't work. Although, I don't know that I should've paid my doctor for the four years he told me there was nothing wrong with my knee, before he finally realized there was something terribly wrong with it and I needed surgery.
