Set in 19th-century European village, Victor (Johnny Depp) is travelling home with his friend to get married to his fiancee Victoria (Emily Watson). The two stop to rest in the woods, and as a joke, Victor puts his wedding ring on a finger-shaped stick in the ground and says his wedding vows. The stick turns out to be a rotted finger belonging to a murdered girl (Helena Bonham-Carter), who returns as a zombie and insists that she is now Victor's lawfully wedded wife.
The legend of the corpse bride began as a nighttime horror story in 19th century Russia. At the time, anti-Semitism was rampant, and Jewish girls would often be ambushed and murdered on their way to the wedding chapel in order to prevent them from bearing any future generations. Because of the Jewish tradition of being buried with the clothes one died in, these girls would invariably be laid to rest wearing their blood-splattered bridal gowns.
wow, i never knew the anti-semetic history, but that makes me want to see it even more. the trailer is classis Burton and i can't wait for this to come out.
ahhh, people are going to sell this out too much, you know...wear shirts and hats about it and all that. I know the movie will be great, Just hate how people can start off liking a director ( Tim Burton ), because of Nightmare before Christmas, although they only like it after 5 years it comes out, then Diseny made a ride of it during christmas, then its all big all the sudden, and every original embessant human will begin to pose it out as some sexual symbol. In other words...this movie will be great, just dont act like you know everything. ( you meaning the world)
Oh my giddy aunts trousers, I REALLY want to see this. Johnny Depp, even as a claymated puppet dude, is extremely hawt. No, really, Tim Burton is like, my extremely weird boyfriend I wish I had! I've loved all his movies. The story is very original (sounding, anyway) and the art- would you call it art?- is astoundingly pretty. I cannot, CANNOT wait. *giggles like the little schoolgirl that she is*

You really need to shut the f*ck up. You dont know sh*t.
You really think there is gonna be a big merchandise campiagn for this movie? Hell no. Do you think there are gonna be coffee cups with the corpse bride on it. No. He has never done that before, and isnt gonna start now.
He DIDNT direct 'a nightmare before christmas' you f*cking ass hat. It was his idea, and he produced it, he did not direct it. Disney was always involved in the project, the didnt buy it out. Besides that, he already had big hits like Edward Sissorshands, Beetlejuice, Pee Wee Big Adventure, Batman, Batman Returns.

I'm so excited for this movie. I love how Tim Burton adds a touch of darkness to normally cheery events (i.e Christmas, weddings). Plus, the animation looks incredible. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing.
