I'm glad I didn't see any spoilers before watching this movie. It really made it much more enjoyable.

Oh I thought of another one.

Didn't the Death Star explode into a zillion little pieces? Yet, there it is. A big chunk of it somehow survived.

That's Death Star II from ROTJ, but yeah, you're right.

Ben was in the pit when the force ghosts were giving Rey a pep talk, which he climbed back out of.

Someone on twitter said Rey was basically space Jesus in this and I lol'd.
Personally, I'd have liked to have seen her struggle more with the dark side, considering her shoe-horned lineage.

On a note, they have good boy Ben Solo lightsabers available *right now* at Galaxy's Edge, but no yellow, Rey Skywalker lightsabers.

Things that make you go hmmm.

My boss doesn't think Ben Solo should have died. The first person IRL for me that also thinks that. He's the best.

"My deepest desire has always been to play Kylo as a human being and not as a machine. I fought so that we could feel some compassion for him, despite his horrible choices." -Adam Driver.

I don't feel right posting this in the shopping thread because it's a spoiler, but I am so tickled I was able to acquire a print of this today. The entire 100 print run sold out in 4 MINUTES.

Somehow managed to make a movie on par with the terribleness of the last one. You go Disney!

Imagine popping in just to say that.

I'm sitting here waiting to see it for the third time, even though I'm saltier than Crait.

I can't say it wasn't pretty cool in IMAX 3D.

Oh my God, Terrio did an interview and it's so bad, I can't bring myself to even link it here.

Saw it on IMAX Laser at Lincoln Center. Even that didn’t help it.

Can you expand on what you didn't like?

Clearly I have issues with it myself, but I'd like to know what disappointed you the most rather than "it sucks".

F*cking gross, dude.

I liked it a lot. There were a few little things here and there that made me tilt my head but overall I thought it was great and a fine ending to wrap up the three trilogies. It even had elements from each of the previous eight movies.

Sooooo.... what exactly didn’t you like?

I'm starting to have nightmares about this movie.

After ruminating about this movie for over 3 weeks now...

I think my biggest issue is that they didn't excel at the story they chose to tell in this movie in particular. I realize the older SW movies were made in a different period of film making, but nowadays I expect more out of a story and don't accept "It's Star Wars, you loser" as a rebuttal to my thinking the plot was sloppy and poorly executed on some points. It's the weakest of the three ST movies, even though there are parts I did love.

If Rey's a Palpatine, give me something interesting as to how she came to be. If Ben's redeemed, maybe let the Jedi force ghosts WHO ARE HIS FAMILY MEMBERS talk to him to let me know they gave a sh*t about him. The ending just feels empty and filmmakers telling you that they left it up to your imagination & it's the last film writer's fault is laughable in this case.

Rey didn’t have much of a backstory. Another point people are making is that she mastered the force with zero training. What’s up with that?
2 yrs ago - Monday 1/13/20 - 4:49:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
One thing I really liked about this one is that they corrected the mistakes from the last movie. For instance, Luke respects the light saber and he tells Rey he was wrong to hide away and not care about what’s happening and not willing to help. That was so out of character for him. I remember Mark Hamill commenting about that.

That's why I referred to her Palpatine lineage as "shoe-horned". JJ & Terrio couldn't come up with another "big bad" after Snoke's death because they're unimaginative. Never mind that people have been begging for Darth Plagueis to figure into this story for years, since Palpatine used his story to turn Anakin over to the dark side in ROTS. Rey being a Palpatine wasn't natural and it didn't make good sense given the previous narrative.

I always thought "training" to use the force a little dumb, tbh.

"You have *his* power". YUCK

Never forget TFA is the movie that sets up where TLJ had to go in regard to Luke's story. It could have been handled differently, but the basis of him closing himself off from the force was already established in TFA. I find it ridiculous to blame TLJ for that story line, personally.

As much as I love Harrison Ford in the ST, it'd have been better to focus on the new characters and the OT characters to have had smaller parts, imo.

The scene I would have LOVED to have looked on with my own eyes:

I pre-ordered this book last July and it was supposed to be released on 12/20, but at the last minute got pushed back to a March release.
