A site to register to vote, if you're not already registered. We ALL should vote - regardless of who we favor.
Saturday 10/9/04 - 2:44:44 PM
F*ck you.

even if you ARE legally able to vote, THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU SHOULD. if you want to vote for kerry just because "he's not bush," don't vote. if you don't pay attention to world issues, don't vote. if you don't read a good newspaper(s), don't vote. if you don't know who to vote for, don't vote. if you get all of your political information from the 6:00 news, don't vote. i don't want any of your uninformed votes cancelling out the votes of people who DO know what's going on.

the above is the reason that i am not voting this year. i do not believe that i have enough information on either candidate to make an appropriate desicion. i think that everyone should make the same evaluation of themselves.

(the preceding is an excerpt from one of my previous posts)

very well said...(except the part where you say F*ck you....that went too far, lol )

I really want to vote because I am really into politics and know a lot about the candidates. But I'm too young which makes me sad.
Saturday 10/9/04 - 6:18:50 PM
Amen gizmo!
Saturday 10/9/04 - 6:36:54 PM
Im glad...Im sick of this f*kkin MTV Rock the vote!...or whatever, it sickens me. I like what George Carlin once said "I can complain cuz I didnt vote, it wasnt my fault that the economy is in the sh*tter, I didnt do anything!...so I have more right to complain than you do !"
Saturday 10/9/04 - 7:22:29 PM
^ That quote is wrong. If you didn't vote then you can't complain because you didn't even try to make things better. The economy is crap because you didn't do anything, don't blame the people who tried.
Saturday 10/9/04 - 8:08:26 PM
yeah, i apologize for the "f*ck you" opener in my last post. uncalled for, really. but other than that i stand my ground on what i've said.
Saturday 10/9/04 - 8:09:32 PM
I am pretty sure most states have closed registration for this elevtion already havent they? I know mine did over a week ago.
Saturday 10/9/04 - 8:24:59 PM
I sent in my registration weeks ago, and still haven't gotten my voter card yet...
Saturday 10/9/04 - 8:37:17 PM
no everyone should vote
Saturday 10/9/04 - 9:30:34 PM
Actually, effigy, every moron has the right to spout off at the mouth about anything he chooses, whether there is a basis in fact for what he's saying or not.

It's a constitutional right.
It's the American way.

Yes, it's called freedom of speech. I wasn't saying that you're legally bound not to complain about something, but it's irritating to many to hear people complain about something and not do anything to fix it. And voting is a privilege and a right we should exercise as much as possible.
Saturday 10/9/04 - 11:47:33 PM
Well gizmo, it doesn't hurt to register...
Sunday 10/10/04 - 12:13:10 AM
I disagree to some extent, gizmo. If I could vote, I would vote for Kerry not only because I think he is well spoken (or his speech writers, you can't be sure) and has good ideas for the future of our country, but because he isn't Bush. That may sound ignorant, but at this point, I can't capacitate a re-election of GWB, and will be happy if anyone BUT him is elected. I'm really scared of the outcome of my future in this country, not to mention concerned about our reputation with other countries (I would not sacrifice our country's safety, don't get me wrong).

Well said. That is what bugs me the most about my own party (Democratic), that so many just sit around and complain instead of getting off their arses and doing something about it.

Gizmo, that's exactly why the heck you actually pick up a newspaper and go to an UN-BIASED website every once in a while. It is your responsibility as an American citizen to be informed and use that information to formulate an opinion, find a candidate that most closely appeals to said opinion (no, not all candidates are the same and anyone who believes that is either a)5 years old or b)ignorant), and get off your fat tail and vote.

^about that, if I was legally allowed to vote, I would still be told to "don't vote" five times.

yea, I fell under ALL those categories :p

Sunday 10/10/04 - 4:49:43 PM
i do follow politics. my opinion is that of most of the country (split down the middle). so therefore, i don't think that i can make a choice based on the available pros and cons of each candidate (exluding pros and cons from 30 years ago, like Kerry's Purple Heart controversy. c'mon, that was 30-40 years ago. i'm sure his opinions have matured since then. the same with bush.)
Sunday 10/10/04 - 4:51:04 PM
eastsider, i know it doesn't hurt to register, but why bother if i am not going to make good use of it? next time, perhaps.
