@HR: It would take fifty years of annual mammograms to get the same radiation as a radiation worker receives in a single year (according to the chart).
And, according to the chart, you would have to have 100 mammograms a year to be relatively sure that you'll have cancer. |

Just like when you get your teeth x-rayed at the dentist, and they throw that big lead apron over your chest. Always leaves me wondering, "what about my brain?" |

It's simply not that much radiation to be concerned about. It says there that a teeth x-ray will expose you to 5 microSv, which is 0,005 % of the yearly limit for radiation exposure of a member of the public, not to mention 0,0001 % of what a radiation worker is allowed to be exposed to (which is half of the level of exposure that has clearly been linked to increased risk for cancer). |
