Not surprisingly, my Midwestern state fluctuated between indifference and unhappiness.

I don't claim to be an expert statistician, but if variations in color denote mood, why do the states need to be distorted in size? Surely that's just adding unnecessary variables?

I think the swelling indicates how many posts are coming from that area. That's my guess at least.

I can't get anything from this. Not just the warping, but how the hell are they getting the statistics?
If this is just some random day then that's just stupid because:

- weather is different from day to day
- seasons affect states very differently
- Local news
- A sh*tload of other factors

Over the course of a year, I bet the average mood for each state is much closer because states that don't consistently experience warm weather are notably happy when it is, while other states are just used to it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is happier when I see the start of each season.
