It's less to do with feminism and more to do with the overall design of heroes these days. In their inception, the idea of a superhero was that they were somehow BETTER than normal people. Their costumes had to be extravagant and flashy; they were wearing clothes that no one else would wear because they could do things that no one else could. Nowadays, comics make a point to "humanize" their protagonists so that the readers can relate. Thusly, more "casual" costumes are becoming mainstream, even for classic heroes. You'll also notice a more subdued color scheme. |
