Everyone has machine guns.

No, it's because there are no poor people in Switzerland.

I bet the real reason is the same as why they dont shoot eachother.

Not the guns but more the people or culture.

Yea. I very much support their way of life.

I think Americans who use this as an argument against gun control don't quite understand the differences between the two countries.

If military service was mandatory for all young men in the US, crime would probably be a lot lower there too.

"the key to freedom is having the ability to defend yourself from anyone who would want to imprison you."

I don't see why this doesn't apply. Attributing the lower crime rate to economic status/culture means that the Swiss example may not be an argument for mandatory gun ownership in America, but it quite clearly demonstrates that crime is a result of culture, not guns, and that is what (most) pro-gun arguments center around.

I think they should make military service mandatory here for men aged 18 to 20 or something like that. Would be a good thing.

Actually, Switzerland is #31 all crimes, #56 murder per capita.

I think the mandatory military training has more to do with the low crime rate than the actual guns.

they may have assault rifles but that's not important because, what they dont tell you is they have no ammo. It is illegal in Switzerland to possess ammo of the same caliber as their rifle unless the government hands it out first.
