How is watching more than 4 hours of tv (I assume a day) that bad? Who's to say they aren't spending the rest of the hours doing something healthy?

What is this trying to accomplish? I don't really see the point in this thing, it seems like am attempt at scare tactics by throwing big numbers at people.

Except that is the only statistic that is really irrelevant.

I like that the Chinese still consume more calories than the average person needs.

Logos doesn't convince me. I'm in Japan, anyways, so it doesn't matter.

I eat more than 5,000 calories a day. It can be a chore at times, but you get used to it. Granted I work it off, but when I take a break from exercising, at first I put on like 5-10 pounds very quickly because I haven't adjusted my eating habits.

I eat a good 4000 calories a day and I hardly gain a pound. I'm a skinny mo-fracka

I calculated my calorie intake for several weeks. I eat an average of 1,600-1,700. I am about ten-fifteen pounds overweight. (My BMI is 26.4, I believe).

2,000 is really variable number. A short, moderately active female, like myself, probably needs much less than 2,000. A tall, male athlete needs much more than 2,000.

An average of 3,700 is really high though especially when coupled with that exercise figure. I think if I ate that many calories, I would puke half of them back up....

I probably consume less than or sometimes just over 1000 calories a day, and that's more than enough food for me. It baffles me that people can eat almost 4000 a day without throwing up. Unless obviously if they're working it off like you Face. Just... how can it be physically possible? How can they still be hungry after 3000 calories??

It's less about how much food they're eating and what kind of food they're eating.

3000 calories in veggies and lean meats is a hell of a lot of food.

3000 calories in chocolate, cookies, potato chips, fast food, etc, isn't that much food.

if people would stop eating out more, then we would be able to afford houses, cars, taxes, etc. FAT PEOPLE ARE RUINING OUR COUNTRY!! (Jking of course)

My metabolism is at 2800.

This means, if I stay in bed all day, in order to not lose/gain weight, I have to consume 2800 cal/day.

Under 2000, I enter starvation mode. That's where problem begins.

I wonder if the obesity crisis is not partly due to people not eating enough.

What? How much do you weigh right now?

I had my BMR done a couple of years ago and it's about 1400.

I'm 300 right now.

I have 190 pounds of lean mass.

I'm suprised by that, Emanj, you being a runner and all.

But I got those results from these guys

I'm heavy. People think I'm about 250, but somehow I have heavy bones and muscles

This is me at 225 (back in the grunge years, yeah you can laugh...)

It's true, most people could care less about eating healthy and staying fit (I'm somewhat guilty). I'm not sure if the situation is as bad as they make it out to be but it wouldn't surprise me either.

Blame it on McDonald's.
