Donate free rice
A vocabulary test. For every correct answer, the advertisers donate 10 grains of rice through the UN hunger program.

What a great site!! I can sit and "play" without feeling like I'm wasting time.

Exactly! I was on it at work all day and fooling myself into believing I was doing something productive... Even if more than a couple thousand grains aren't even a pound of rice.

oh this is so great!

This really got my brain moving and alert.

Plus I feel like I am helping so I don't feel bad, and it's a goal to keep getting more grains of rice.

What a productive way to spend time. All that rice in only 20 days...that's amazing! I hope we can all make a difference!

wait..so you're saying they are going to count the amount of rice, one by one?

for all those who thought they werent wasting their time...im sorry, but you are.

Looks like someone didn't read the FAQ on how it works.

Ad revenue is generated for the sponsors each time you get a word right. That revenue is used (donated, basically) to purchase rice. The "10 grains" thing is an estimate of how much rice each correct answer would purchase.

I'm going to recommend this to my students. It helps build vocabulary and gives to a good cause at the same time.

I got as high as level 43 and hovered between 37-42 most of the time after that.

This is a really neat program! What's really amazing is how many my 9 year old got just by logical guessing. Between the two of us, at 460 grains, we were at 40. We will definitely be playing this again.

They CAN approximate by weight, you know.

Hey, that's basically the same as me! I did get one word on level 44, but I got it wrong, and that was the end of that.
Some of the words were not ones I knew, but I felt like I was exercising my brain by trying to figure them out by root/etymology/etc.

I've gotten 1000 grains so far and stay around level 35. I'm going to send this to other people, I think it's great.
