I don't think people realize just *how* different it is from what you start with and what you end up with. For example, the neck stretching, the making of the eyes bigger, etc. |

I agree. ^^ I don't know what to say..except..they're right. And I congratulate Dove for what they're trying to do..but it probably won't make much of a difference, unfortunately. |

Makes me wonder why they even bother with models at all, when they can probably make even the fugliest woman look stunning that way. |

well of course she didnt look that good going in... i mean she didnt do anything for herself because she knew she was going to get her hair/face done. now the whole photoshopping thing was pretty drastic... why not just get a picture from google and work off of that |

they go for models because the less money they have to spend on photoshopping the better. Apparantly it's insanely expensive... that's crazy though, for far they can go. |

That's amazing, but why don't they just start with a hot chick? It would save a lot of money. Besides, isn't our perception of beauty preprogrammed? There's all kinds of studies done where babies spend more time looking at the faces of beautiful people. I appreciate Dove's sentiment, but beautiful people will always be given advantage, for better or worse. <rant> I just hope they don't get on the whole "it's okay to be fat" bandwagon. Fat is just unhealthy and unnatural, no matter what people say. Yah, some people are naturally big, and that's ok. I ain't much of a flyweight, myself. But you look around these days and it's like, damn, take a walk to the park and lay off the Krispy Cremes. </rant> |

"but why don't they just start with a hot chick" You don't get it at all. NO one looks like the end product of that process, in reality. But the real truth is that reality isn't pretty, but when you alter reality it looks beautiful. Looking beautiful is about illusion, about making yourself look more idealistically perportioned than is humanly possible. To look like Barbie. So remember, anytime you see a photo of some one who looks too beautiful to be real, well that's because they arn't! Real people don't look like make-up ads and never will. For example, no adult has eyes that big, and no person under 7 feet tall has a neck that long. Often they stretch the legs out to be 5 feet long. |

"Am I crazy for thinking she was fine before?" No, and that's because you're disillusioned :D |

I think DMDekoth meant after she got made over but before she got photoshopped.. which I agree. Her hair was beautiful, too, but they had to fix that too. Stupid. |

It's so true. No wonder girls are starving themselves and no wonder no girl seems to ever be happy with how they look... it's because our everyday idea of what is beautiful is not even real anymore, nevermind achievable without photoshop, makeup and the right way to take a picture. |
